Strafford – Those interested in a project to construct intersection improvements along Missouri Route 125 over I-44 in Strafford are invited to a public meeting to learn of upcoming traffic impacts due to construction and project information on Monday, March 3, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
This meeting will inform the public of upcoming traffic impacts during construction, the contractor’s schedule and provide an overview of the project when completed. The come-and-go style meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 3, at First Baptist Church of Strafford, 400 S Madison St, Strafford. No formal presentation is planned. Those who attend may come anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn about the project and ask questions.

The project includes a dog-bone roundabout interchange at I-44, a roundabout at Route 125 and Chestnut Street, a signal at Route 125 and Greene County Route OO in Strafford, widening and new sidewalk between Washington Avenue and Route OO and barrier work on Webster County Route CC over I-44 in Marshfield.
Project Summary:
- Build a dog-bone roundabout interchange at Route 125 over I-44
- Build a roundabout at Route 125 and Chestnut Street
- Install traffic signal at Route 125 and Route OO
- Widen to a three-lane roadway and add sidewalk on Route 125 between Washington Avenue and Route OO
- Install new sidewalk from just north of I-44 to the intersection of Route 125 and Route OO, a pedestrian barrier on the Route 125 bridge over I-44
Traffic impacts on I-44:
- Traffic shifts on Route 125 at I-44 and Chestnut Street
- Narrowed lanes and traffic shifts on Route 125 between Washington Avenue and Route OO
- Short duration closure on Olive Street for pipe replacement
- Crews and equipment will be close to traffic
- During higher traffic volume, drivers can expect delays
- No signed detour. Drivers should find alternate routes.
- Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones
- Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
Contractor: Hartman & Company Inc., Springfield
The awarded construction cost is $6.2 million.
The project is scheduled for completion on May 22, 2026.
