Planned Road Work for Mid-Missouri

Nov. 18 - 24, 2024

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the midMissouri area Nov. 1824, 2024. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.   

All Counties 

Moving operations such as pothole patching, mowing, brush cutting, and pavement repair continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow moving equipment. 

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change. 

Boone County 

Interstate 70 westbound, Route O, and Route J Bridge repair continues on westbound I-70 over Routes O and J. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024. Traffic impacts include: 

  • The right-hand (driving) lane of westbound I-70 is rerouted to the on- and off- ramps at Exit 117 for the duration of the repair project. 
  • Routes O and J are CLOSED under the bridge. 
  • Route O is detoured to Route BB (Exit 115). 
  • Route J is detoured to U.S. Route 40 (Exit 121).  
  • No access to/from westbound I-70 and Routes O and J. 
  • No access to/from eastbound I-70 and Route J. 
  • Eastbound I-70 to/from Route O remains opens.  

I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.  

Route TT Upgrades to pedestrian facilities planned on Broadway between Route ZZ and Silvey Street. The work is being done by the city of Columbia. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024. 

U.S. Route 63 Bridge construction continues on U.S. Route 63 between the Broadway overpass and Conley Road underpass in Columbia. U.S. Route 63 will remain open but in a head-to-head configuration with narrowed lanes and reduced speeds. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place through late 2025. The bridge construction is part of the Improve I-70 program. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity. 

I-70 – New pavement construction continues in Columbia from Route B (Paris Road) to U.S. Route 63 through January 2027 as part of the Improve I-70 program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity. 

Callaway County 

U.S. Route 54 – Routine bridge inspection planned Nov. 18 – Dec. 5 at the Missouri River bridge. One lane will be closed. Work will take place daily, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

U.S. Route 54 – Resurfacing continues from Holts Summit to Fulton. Single-lane closures will occur at varying times, depending on the location. Expect delays during morning/evening rush hours. The project is expected to continue through November 2024. 

I-70 – New pavement construction continues from the Boone County line to Kingdom City (near mile marker 145) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity 

Camden County  

Route W Culvert replacements planned Nov. 18. The road will be CLOSED from Heise Road to Ambrosia Lane, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Cole County  

Outer Road 50 (Country Club Drive) – Pavement repair planned Nov. 20 – 21 at Hunters Run Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route B Bridge rehabilitation continues over the Moreau River near Wardsville. One lane will remain open and temporary traffic signals are in place to guide motorists through the work zoneThe project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.   

Route D – Bridge deck replacement continues over North Moreau Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED between Hunters Haven Drive and Knoll Road, and a signed detour is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.   

Cooper County 

Route J – Roadside work planned Nov. 18 – 22 in the city of Prairie Home. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

I-70 – Pavement repairs planned Nov. 19 from mile marker 98 to mile marker 101 westbound.  

I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.  

Crawford County 

Missouri Route 49 – Roadside work planned Nov. 1822 from Missouri Route 19 to Route Y. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route M – Roadside work planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Missouri Route 8 to Route YY. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route N – Roadside work planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Missouri Route 185 (Washington County) to the city of Bourbon. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route PP – Roadside work planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Rutz Subdivision Road to Lick Creek Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Routes 8 and 19 Upgrades to pedestrian facilities in the city of Steelville. One lane will remain open in each direction, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in November.   

Howard County 

Missouri Route 240 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 1822 from County Road 436 to U.S. Route 40. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Laclede County 

Route E – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 18 – 22. The road will be CLOSED from Bluff Trail Road to Route NN, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route. 

Route B – Bridge deck replacement continues at the Osage Fork Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024. 

Maries County 

Missouri Route 42 – Roadside work planned Nov. 1822 from the city of Vienna to the city of Belle. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route C – Roadside work planned Nov. 1822 from Missouri Route 28 to Route H. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Morgan County 

Missouri Route 52 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 19 at Route N. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Phelps County 

Missouri Route 68 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Route 8 to Route NN. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route B – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Route 68 to Route U. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route H – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 19 at the Little Piney Creek Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route J – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 19 at the Spring Creek Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route BB – Shoulder work planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Jefferson Street to County Road 3310. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route HH – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Route E to County Road 8070. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

I-44 – Road resurfacing and reconstruction continues from Exit 186 in Rolla to Exit 195 in St. James. Expect overnight lane closures, westbound only, from U.S. Route 63 to Route 68. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The end date for the project is yet to be determined based on concrete quality issues that will need to be corrected. Washington County 

Route E – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 18 – 21 at Midwest Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Route N – Roadside work planned Nov. 18 – 22 from Route 185 to the city of Bourbon (Crawford County). One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. 

Missouri Route 47 Bridge rehabilitation continues over Mineral Fork Creek. Traffic is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
