JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid–Missouri area Nov. 11 – 17, 2024. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
Moving operations such as pothole patching, mowing, brush cutting, and pavement repair continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow – moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
Interstate 70 westbound, Route O, and Route J – Bridge repair continues on westbound I-70 over Routes O and J. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024. Traffic impacts include:
- The right-hand (driving) lane of westbound I-70 is rerouted to the on- and off- ramps at Exit 117 for the duration of the repair project.
- Routes O and J are CLOSED under the bridge.
- Route O is detoured to Route BB (Exit 115).
- Route J is detoured to U.S. Route 40 (Exit 121).
- No access to/from westbound I-70 and Routes O and J.
- No access to/from eastbound I-70 and Route J.
- Eastbound I-70 to/from Route O remains opens.
I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.
Route TT – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities planned on Broadway between Route ZZ and Silvey Street. The work is being done by the city of Columbia. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
U.S. Route 63 – Bridge construction continues on U.S. Route 63 between the Broadway overpass and Conley Road underpass in Columbia. U.S. Route 63 will remain open but in a head-to-head configuration with narrowed lanes and reduced speeds. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place through late 2025. I-70 – New pavement construction continues in Columbia from Route B (Paris Road) to east of the Connector (east of exit 128A) through January 2027 as part of the Improve I-70 program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity.
Callaway County
I-70 – Bridge maintenance planned Nov. 11 – 13 at the Cedar Creek Bridge. One lane will remain open, work will be taking place nightly, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Route Z – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 13. The road will be CLOSED from Lowry Lane to I-70, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route Z – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 14. The road will be CLOSED from County Road 140 at the Auxvasse Creek Bridge, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
U.S. Route 54 – Resurfacing continues from Holts Summit to Fulton. Single-lane closures will occur at varying times, depending on the location. Expect delays during morning/evening rush hours. The project is expected to continue through November 2024.
I-70 – New pavement construction continues from the Boone County line to Kingdom City (near mile marker 145) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity
Camden County
Route A – Culvert replacements planned Nov. 12 – 13 in several locations between U.S. Route 54 and Richland. The road will be CLOSED daily, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

- Closed from Armstrong to Booger Holler (approximately 2 miles south of U.S. Route 54).
- Closed from Mountainview Road to Seven Springs Road (approximately 5 miles north of Richland).
- Nov. 13
- Closed from Michaels Way to Black Oak Road (just east of Route C).
Route N – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 13 from Three Willis Road to Hazel Valley Drive. The road will be CLOSED daily, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route W – Culvert replacements planned Nov. 14 – 15 in several locations. The road will be CLOSED daily, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- Closed from Heise Road to Ambrosia Lane (approximately 1.2 miles north of U.S. Route 54).
- Nov. 15
- Closed from Cemetary Road to east Buffalo Linn Creek Road (approximately 0.8 miles north of U.S. Route 54).
Cole County
Route B – Bridge rehabilitation continues over the Moreau River near Wardsville. One lane will remain open and temporary traffic signals are in place to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route D – Bridge deck replacement continues over North Moreau Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED between Hunters Haven Drive and Knoll Road, and a signed detour is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Cooper County
I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.
Crawford County
Route PP – Roadside work planned Nov. 12 – 15 from Rutz Subdivision Road to Lick Creek Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Y – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 12 – 15 from Missouri Route 49 in Viburnum (Iron County) to Route V. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Routes 8 and 19 – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities in the city of Steelville. One lane will remain open in each direction, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in November.
Howard County
U.S. Route 40 – Shoulder work planned Nov. 12 – 15 from Missouri Route 87 to Missouri Route 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 240 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 12 – 15 from County Road 436 to U.S. Route 40. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 3 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 12 – 15 from County Road 238 to County Road 244. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Laclede County
Route VV – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 11 – 12. The road will be CLOSED from Lonesome Road to Missouri Route 5, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route E – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 14 – 15. The road will be CLOSED from Bluff Trail Road to Route NN, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route O – Bridge maintenance planned Nov. 12 – 22 at the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 64 – Bridge replacement continues at the Goodwin Hollow Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route B – Bridge deck replacement continues at the Osage Fork Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Maries County
Missouri Route 42 – Roadside work planned Nov. 12 – 15 from the city of Vienna to the city of Belle. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route C – Roadside work planned Nov. 12 – 15 from Missouri Route 28 to Route H. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Moniteau County
Missouri Route 87 – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 12 – 13 from Route D (Cooper County) to Route U. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Osage County
Route 63 – Pavement repairs planned Nov. 11 – 15 at Route JJ. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 63 – Roadside work planned Nov. 12 – 15 in the city limits of Freeburg. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Phelps County
Route H – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 13 at the Little Piney Creek bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route J – Culvert replacement planned Nov. 13 at the Spring Creek bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-44 – Road resurfacing and reconstruction continues from Exit 186 in Rolla to Exit 195 in St. James. Expect around-the-clock lane closures from U.S. Route 63 to Missouri Route 68. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The end date for the project is yet to be determined based on concrete quality issues that will need to be corrected. Washington County
Route 47 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over Mineral Fork Creek. Traffic is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
