JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid–Missouri area Oct. 21 – 27, 2024. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
Moving operations such as pothole patching, mowing, brush cutting, and pavement repair continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow–moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
U.S. Route 63 southbound – Concrete replacement planned from Crofton Hall Road to Route NN Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
U.S. Route 63 – Resurfacing continues from Missouri Route 763 (Range Line Street) to Route B. One lane of U.S. Route 63 and ramps in this area may be closed, weekdays and Saturdays. Hours of work will vary based on the location and type of work being conducted. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Interstate 70 westbound, Route O, and Route J – Bridge repair continues on westbound I-70 over Routes O and J. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024. Traffic impacts include:
- The right-hand (driving) lane of westbound I-70 will be rerouted to the on- and off- ramps at Exit 117 for the duration of the repair project.
- Routes O and J are CLOSED under the bridge.
- Route O is detoured to Route BB (Exit 115).
- Route J traffic is detoured to U.S. Route 40 (Exit 121).
- No access to/from westbound I-70 and Routes O and J.
- No access to/from eastbound I-70 and Route J.
- Eastbound I-70 to/from Route O remains opens.
I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.
Route TT – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities planned on Broadway by the city of Columbia, between Route ZZ and Silvey Street. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
U.S. Route 63 - Bridge construction continues on U.S. Route 63 between the Broadway overpass and Conley Road underpass in Columbia. U.S. Route 63 will remain open but in a head-to-head configuration with narrowed lanes and reduced speeds. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2025.
I-70 – New pavement construction continues in Columbia from Route B (Paris Road) to east of the Connector (east of exit 128A) through January 2027 as part of the Improve I-70 program. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity
Callaway County
U.S. Route 54 – Resurfacing continues from Holts Summit to Fulton. Single-lane closures will occur at varying times, depending on the location. Expect delays during morning/evening rush hours. The project is expected to continue through November 2024.
I-70 – New pavement construction continues from the Boone County line to Kingdom City (near mile marker 145) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity
Camden County
Route A – Shoulder work planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Cole County
U.S. Route 54 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over U.S. Route 50 and McCarty Street in Jefferson City. U.S. Route 54 will remain open but is narrowed to one lane in each direction between south of the Missouri River and Business Route 50 (Missouri Boulevard). Width restrictions are in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Missouri Boulevard – Ramp CLOSED from Missouri Boulevard to eastbound U.S. Route 54 through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
West Main Street – Ramp CLOSED from westbound U.S. Route 54 to West Main Street through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
U.S. Route 50 – Ramp CLOSED from eastbound U.S. Route 54 to U.S. Route 50 (east and westbound) through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
Route B – Bridge rehabilitation continues over the Moreau River near Wardsville. One lane will remain open and temporary traffic signals are in place to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route D – Bridge deck replacement continues over North Moreau Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED between Hunters Haven Drive and Knoll Road, and a signed detour is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Cooper County
Missouri Route 87 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 23 from Route D to Route U in Moniteau County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 179 – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-70 – Bridge maintenance planned west of Boonville from mile marker 100 to 99.6 Oct. 21 – 31. One lane of I-70, each direction, may be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Route N – Roadside work planned Oct. 22 from Route NN to River View Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 98 – Roadside work planned Oct. 23 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 5 – Seal coating continues from I-70 to U.S Route 50 in Morgan County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. Project is scheduled for completion in October 2025.
I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The new eastbound bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2024.
Crawford County
North Outer Road 44 – Milling and resurfacing planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Route J to Essman Dunn Road in the city of Bourbon. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Old Route 66 – Diamond grinding planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Route UU to Outer Road 44. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route E – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24 at Moutray Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Y – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Missouri Route 49 in Viburnum (Iron County) to Route V. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route DD – Shoulder work planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-44 – Resurfacing continues from just west of Cuba to the Franklin County line. One lane will remain open. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Dent County
Route K – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Route E to Route KK. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route CC – Pavement repair planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Route C to Route H. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Howard County
Route 5 – Striping planned from U.S. Route 40 to Missouri Route 240. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Route 240 – Striping planned from U.S. Route 40 to Route 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Laclede County
Route V – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 22. The road will be CLOSED from Skyline Drive to Rowcrop Road, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route VV – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24. The road will be CLOSED from Lonesome Road to Katrina Lane, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Missouri Route 64 – Bridge replacement continues at the Goodwin Hollow Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route B – Bridge deck replacement continues at the Osage Fork Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Maries County
U.S. Route 63 – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24 in the city limits of Vienna. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 42 – Bridge inspection planned Oct. 21 – 24 at the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 14-foot width restriction is in place.
Routes 42 and 28 – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24 near the city limits of Belle. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 133 – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24 from County Road 218 to the city limits of Meta in Osage County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route AA – Pothole patching planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Miller County
Cave Drive – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21. The road will be CLOSED 1 mile west of the U.S. Route 54 intersection, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route W – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Timber Road to Lake Land Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Moniteau County
Route 87 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 23 from Route D in Cooper County to Route U. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Morgan County
Missouri Route 135 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 22 from Cup Tree Road to Mini Farm Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 5 – Seal coating continues from I-70 in Cooper County to U.S Route 50. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. Project is scheduled for completion in October 2025.
Osage County
Missouri Route 89 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 14 – 24 at the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 14-foot width restriction is in place.
Route 133 – Roadside work planned Oct. 21 – 24 from County Road 218 in Maries County to the city limits of Meta. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Phelps County
Routes H, P, T, and CC – Pothole patching planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
North Outer Road 44 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24 from the city limits of St. James to Route V. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes 8 and DD – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities in the city of St. James. One lane will remain open in each direction, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
I-44 – Road resurfacing and reconstruction continues from Exit 186 in Rolla to Exit 195 in St. James. Expect around-the-clock lane closures from U.S. Route 63 to Missouri Route 68. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The end date for the project is yet to be determined based on concrete quality issues that will need to be corrected. Pulaski County
Route N – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 21 – 24 at Cambridge Lane. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes O, U and Y – Shoulder work planned Oct. 21 – 24. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-44 – Bridge maintenance continues at mile marker 160. Nightly lane closures are expected from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Business Loop 44 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over I–44 in St. Robert. Business Loop 44 is open but narrowed to one lane in each direction in a head-to-head configuration. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Washington County
Missouri Route 21 – Shoulder work planned Oct. 21 – 24 from Missouri Route 47 to the Jefferson County line. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route U – Shoulder work planned Oct. 21 – 24 at the Big River bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 47 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over Mineral Fork Creek. Traffic is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
