JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid–Missouri area Oct. 14 – 20, 2024. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
Moving operations such as pothole patching, mowing, brush cutting, and pavement repair continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow–moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
Missouri Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities planned Oct. 14 – 18 at U.S. Route 63 interchange. One lane will remain open in each direction, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones.
Interstate 70 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 16 – Nov. 9. The diversion will temporarily close access to Routes O and J at the bridge. The detour for Route O will direct motorists to the Route BB exit (115), while Route J traffic will be detoured to the U.S. Route 40 exit (121).
U.S. Route 63 – Resurfacing continues from Missouri Route 763 (Range Line Street) to Route B. One lane of U.S. Route 63 and ramps in this area may be closed, weekdays and Saturdays. Hours of work will vary based on the location and type of work being conducted. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
U.S. Route 40 – Seal coating continue from Interstate 70 to Missouri Route 87 in Howard County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Missouri Routes 151, 22, and 124 intersection – Roundabout construction is in its final phase. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
I-70 – Bridge construction continues for the new Rocheport Bridge near mile marker 115. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Route TT – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities planned on Broadway in the city of Columbia, between Route ZZ and Silvey Street. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Callaway County
Route WW – Pothole patching planned Oct. 16 from County Road 259 to Cedar Creek Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route J – Pothole patching planned Oct. 16 – 17 from Route MM to Route H. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
U.S. Route 54 – Resurfacing continues from north of the Missouri River to Fulton. Single-lane closures will occur at varying times, depending on the location. Expect delays during morning/evening rush hours. The project is expected to continue through November 2024.
I-70 – New pavement construction continues from the Boone County line to Kingdom City (near mile marker 145) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Learn more at modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity
Camden County
Route N – Pothole patching planned Oct. 15 – 17. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 5 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 15 – 17 at Hurricane Deck Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Cole County
U.S. Route 54 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over U.S. Route 50 and McCarty Street in Jefferson City. U.S. Route 54 will remain open but is narrowed to one lane in each direction between south of the Missouri River and Business Route 50 (Missouri Boulevard). Width restrictions are in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Missouri Boulevard – Ramp CLOSED from Missouri Boulevard to eastbound U.S. Route 54 through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
West Main Street – Ramp CLOSED from westbound U.S. Route 54 to West Main Street through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
U.S. Route 50 – Ramp CLOSED from eastbound U.S. Route 54 to U.S. Route 50 (east and westbound) through October. Motorist must use an alternate route.
Route B – Bridge rehabilitation continues over the Moreau River near Wardsville. One lane will remain open and temporary traffic signals are in place to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route D – Bridge deck replacement continues over North Moreau Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED between Hunters Haven Drive and Knoll Road, and a signed detour is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Cooper County
Missouri Route 98 – Roadside work planned Oct. 16 – 17. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route N – Roadside work planned Oct. 15 from Route NN to River View Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 5 – Seal coating planned Oct. 14 – 21 from I-70 to U.S Route 50 in Morgan County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.

Crawford County
North Outer Road 44 – Milling and resurfacing planned Oct. 15 – 17 from Route J to Essman Dunn Road in the city of Bourbon. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 19 – Pothole patching planned Oct. 15 – 17 from the city limits of Cuba to Route CC. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 8 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 15 – 17 from Route E to Route V. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Old Route 66 – Diamond grinding planned Oct. 15 – 17 from Route UU to Outer Road 44. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route H – Shoulder work planned Oct. 15 – 17 on the ramp to westbound I-44.
Route Y – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 15 – 17 from Route 49 in Viburnum (Iron County) to Route V. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
I-44 – Resurfacing continues from just west of Cuba to the Franklin County line. One lane will remain open. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Howard County
U.S. Route 40 – Seal coating continues from I-70 in Boone County to Route 87. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Route 5 – Resurfacing continues from U.S. Route 40 to Route 87. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
Laclede County
Route V – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 15. The road will be CLOSED from Skyline Drive to Rowcrop Road, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Route AD – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 15 – 17 over the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place.
Route V – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 16 – 17. The road will be CLOSED from Rowcrop Road to Route 5, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Missouri Route 64 – Bridge replacement continues at the Goodwin Hollow Creek Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Route B – Bridge deck replacement continues at the Osage Fork Bridge. The road is CLOSED to all traffic with a signed detour in place. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2024.
Maries County
Missouri Route 42 – Pothole patching planned Oct. 15 – 17 from the city limits of Vienna to Missouri Route 133. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 42 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 15 – 24 at the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 14-foot width restriction is in place.
Miller County
Cave Drive – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 16. The road will be CLOSED from 1 mile west from U.S. Route 54 intersection, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motorists must use an alternate route.
Missouri Route 17 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 15 – 17 from Route KK to Brushy Fork bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Business U.S. 54 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 15 – 17 at U.S. Route 54, eastbound only. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 17 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 15 – 17 at the Osage River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 14-foot width restriction is in place.
Moniteau County
Route 87 – Culvert replacement planned Oct. 15 – 16 from Route D in Cooper County to Route U. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Morgan County
Route 5 – Seal coating planned Oct. 11 – 21 from I-70 in Cooper County to U.S Route 50. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Osage County
Missouri Route 89 – Bridge maintenance planned Oct. 14 – 24 at the Gasconade River Bridge. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone. A 14-foot width restriction is in place.
Phelps County
Routes H, P, T, and CC – Pothole patching planned Oct. 15 – 17. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes 8 and DD – Upgrades to pedestrian facilities in the city of St. James. One lane will remain open in each direction, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
I-44 – Road resurfacing and reconstruction continues from Exit 186 in Rolla to Exit 195 in St. James. Expect around-the-clock lane closures from U.S. Route 63 to Route 68. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The end date for the project is yet to be determined based on concrete quality issues that will need to be corrected. Pulaski County
I-44 – Bridge maintenance continues at mile marker 160. Nightly lane closures are expected from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Business Loop 44 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over I–44 in St. Robert. Business Loop 44 is open but narrowed to one lane in each direction in a head-to-head configuration. An 11-foot width restriction is in place. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
Washington County
Missouri Route 47 – Bridge rehabilitation continues over Mineral Fork Creek. Traffic is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2024.
