MoDOT: Resurfacing Work in Various Southwest Counties Beginning the Week of October 14

Barry, Christian, Dade, Greene & Lawrence Counties – Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on various routes in Barry, Christian, Dade, Greene and Lawrence Counties for a resurfacing project beginning the week of October 14, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Project Information:

  • Barry County
    • Route WW between Missouri Route 39 and County Route 1170/1180 south of Aurora
  • Christian County
    • Route MM between Missouri Route 14 and Rose Hill Road west of Billings
  • Dade County
    • Route FF between U.S. Route 160 and County Road 132 west of Ash Grove
  • Greene County
    • Route HH between Route O and Farm Road 54 east of Willard

    • Route DD between Missouri Route 39 and Route Z west of Miller
    • Route OO between Missouri Route 39 and County Road 1095 north of Mount Vernon

Routes will receive a new asphalt driving surface and road markings in various locations. Work will be done during daytime hours from Monday – Friday. Crews plan to start resurfacing in the Monett area and work their way toward Springfield.

This project is part of Gov. Parson’s Rural Routes program. The state’s approved Fiscal Year 2023 budget provided an additional $100 million in General Revenue for work on Missouri’s low volume rural roads. Using asset management data, MoDOT has identified approximately 1,700 lane miles of low volume roads ranked in Poor Condition.  By the end of the program, these 113 locations will receive resurfacing treatments of hot mix asphalt to improve the road conditions.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt
  • Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zones or before entering the work zones from a side road.
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers should find alternate routes
  • Signs will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

Project Information:

  • Prime contractor: APAC-Central of Springfield
  • Total project cost: $3.8 million
  • Contract completion date: May 1, 2025
