JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Frene Creek (Market Street) Bridge on Missouri Route 19 in Hermann is now open. Construction crews completed the rehabilitation project and were able to open the wider, smoother bridge today, Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.
Crews from Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, closed Route 19 over Frene Creek on June 3 for a rehabilitation project. Work on the bridge built in 1930 included replacing the deck and girders – the superstructure – and upgrading the pedestrian facilities to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
A temporary fence is currently in place on the bridge, with the permanent fixture installation scheduled for Aug. 30. The installation will not affect vehicular traffic, but will require temporarily closing the pedestrian portion of the bridge.
