Polk County – Traffic can expect lane closures and temporary signals on the Polk County Route D bridge over Piper Creek north of Bolivar beginning the week of August 19, for a bridge rehabilitation project, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will replace the bridge deck (driving surface), install new guardrail at either end of the bridge and replace bridge joints.
Traffic Impacts:
- Lane closures and temporary signals on Polk County Route D Bridge over Piper Creek north of Bolivar
- Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
- Drivers urged to find alternate routes. No signed detours are planned.
- Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
- Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
The current bridge was built in 1971. Approximately 5,248 vehicles per day travel across the bridge.
The current structure is in poor condition and in need of frequent repairs.
Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.
