EDITORS: This Traffic Alert reflects a new, earlier date for activating the traffic signals
Where: Greene County Route MM/B bridge over I-44 (Exit 70) west of Springfield
When: Beginning August 8 for at least seven (7) days
What: Newly installed traffic signals at the Greene County Route MM/B bridge over I-44 (Exit 70) west of Springfield will be in flashing mode for at least seven (7) days while drivers become accustomed to the new traffic control configuration.
Traffic Impacts:
- Drivers traveling north- or southbound on Route MM/B will see a flashing yellow light and should use caution when traveling across the bridge
- Drivers exiting I-44 at Exit 70 will see a flashing red light at the top of the ramp and should come to a stop before turning on to Route MM/B
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Details: This work is the first part of a two-phase project to make improvements at this interchange. Signals will remain until phase two, which is currently unfunded. Phase two will include building a “dog bone” roundabout at I-44 and Route MM/B, removal of the phase one signals, realigning the North Outer Road and restriping lanes on the bridge over I-44 to include an additional third lane.
