Where: Sunset Street Closed at Kansas Expressway (Route 13) in Springfield

When: 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. Monday & Tuesday nights, August 5 & 6

What: Contractor crews to pave the Sunset Street approaches to Kansas Expressway (Route 13) at night as part of the Kansas Expressway Pedestrian Improvements in Greene Project. Crews will work on one side of Kansas Expressway, and when complete will move to the adjacent side of the intersection.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Sunset Street CLOSED at Kansas Expressway (Route 13) in Springfield during nighttime hours August 5 & 6
  • Kansas Expressway turn lanes to Sunset Street CLOSED
  • Lane Closures on Kansas Expressway (Route 13)
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • No signed detours are planned
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Project Information:

  • D & E Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Nixa is doing the work for a low bid amount of $13.3 million and is a cost-share with the City of Springfield.
  • The project is to be completed by November 1, 2024.
