Delayed: Missouri Route 5 closure for concrete repairs in Chariton and Linn Counties

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The reopening of Missouri Route 5 in Linn County under the BNSF railroad bridge in Marceline and Route 5 in Chariton County under the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge west of Salisbury has been delayed due to additional paving and guardrail needed. Capital Paving and Construction, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation now expect to reopen Route 5 in Linn County on Friday, June 21, and Route 5 in Chariton County on Wednesday, June 26.

Below is updated information regarding each closure:

Linn County Route 5:

  • CLOSED around the clock under the BNSF Railroad bridge in Marceline – now through Friday, June 21.
  • Traffic will continue to be directed on U.S. Route 36, Missouri Route 129 and Route WW around the closure.

Chariton County Route 5:

  • CLOSED around the clock under the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge west of Salisbury – now through Wednesday, June 26.
  • Traffic will be directed on Route 24, Route KK and Route WW around the closure.

This is part of a project that included the resurfacing of Missouri Route 5 in Chariton County, Route 5 in Linn County and Missouri Route 41 in Carroll County.
