ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Beginning Monday, June 17, at 6 a.m., the clearance under the U.S. Route 65 Bridge over U.S. Route 36 in Chillicothe will temporarily be lowered to 14 feet, 6 inches. Magruder Paving, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will be moving traffic in near the median of U.S. Route 36 under the bridge, reducing the height in both directions, to complete concrete repairs. Traffic will be moved to the median shoulder of the passing (left) lane, both directions, beneath the U.S. Route 65 bridge until Friday afternoon, July 12, when the bridge clearance will return to normal.
Drivers of over height loads may use the off/on ramps at U.S. Route 65 to navigate around the temporary restriction. Message boards and signage will be in place, both directions, to alert travelers. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place. All work for the resurfacing and pavement improvement project is expected to be complete by the end of July.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Know before you go by visiting the MoDOT Traveler Information Map for work zone information and road conditions at http://traveler.modot.org/map/, or downloading from your smart phone’s app store.
