Input sought on plans to replace, rehabilitate U.S. Route 54 bridges over Neighorn Branch

Public meeting, two-week comment period begins June 20

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community input on 2025 plans to replace and rehabilitate the two bridges on U.S. Route 54 over the Neighorn Branch. An in-person public meeting in Jefferson City will kick off a two-week comment period running June 20 – July 5, 2024.

While work is needed on both bridges on U.S. Route 54 over the Neighorn Branch, south of Jefferson City, they are at different stages in their life cycle. The eastbound bridge needs to be replaced while the westbound bridge needs a new deck.

The public is invited to the open-house-style meeting on Thursday, June 20, at the Cole County Fire Protection District located at 5206 Monticello Road in Jefferson City. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and provide information. Exhibits show the work currently being planned and the proposed traffic impacts. The meeting exhibits will also be made available online.

In addition to the public meeting, there will be a two-week open comment period running June 20 – July 5. Input can be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to U.S. Route 54 Neighorn Branch Bridge Project in Cole County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102.
