UPDATE: Resurfacing project on Missouri Route 163 in Columbia moving to phase 2

Paving to close one lane of Providence Road

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The second phase of a resurfacing project coming to Missouri Route 163 (Providence Road) in Columbia is starting today, June 3, 2024. At their December 2023 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded Capital Paving & Construction, LLC (Capital) a $5,506,594.12 contract to resurface 5.33 miles of Providence Road from Route K/Old Plank Road to Interstate 70.

The contractor has completed pavement repairs and plans to begin resurfacing tonight. One lane of Providence Road will be closed nightly in the area where the contractor is actively paving. Work will continue nightly Monday through Friday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should expect delays.

After paving, a right turn lane will be added at the intersection of northbound Providence Road and Veterans United Drive. The project is expected to continue through August.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
