HANNIBAL – Today the Missouri Department of Transportation closed the bridge on Route VV in Macon County, over BNSF Railway, located approximately 0.4 miles south of Arctic Road. During a routine bridge inspection, increased deterioration and deficiencies were found contributing to the decision to close the bridge.
The timber structured bridge, built in 1929, carries an average of 64 vehicles daily. It is scheduled for replacement within the next two years and will remain closed until it is replaced. Message boards will be in place notifying motorists of the closure. Please use alternate routes.
