MoDOT: New Signal Installation on I-44 and Greene County Route B and Route MM Ramps (Exit 70)

Near Springfield and Republic Beginning Saturday, June 1

Republic & Springfield, Greene County – Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on I-44 and Greene County Route B and Route MM ramps (exit 70) near Springfield and Republic for a signal installation project beginning Saturday, June 1, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Crews will install signals at I-44 and Route B/MM ramps (exit 70). Signals are phase one of the I-44 and Route B/MM Interchange Improvements.

Signals will remain until phase two, which is currently unfunded. Phase two will include building a “dog bone” roundabout at I-44 and Route B/MM, removal of the phase one signals at I-44 and Route B/MM ramps, realigning the North Outer Road and restriping lanes on bridge over I-44 to include additional third lane capacity. Crews will work hours of 6:30 a.m. – 5-30 p.m. from Monday – Thursday and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic shifts and lane closures on Route B/MM at times
  • I-44 Open
  • During higher traffic volume, drivers can expect delays
  • Temporary Access Disruptions
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers should find alternate routes
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

  • Total project cost: $346,255 million
  • Contract completion date: August 15, 2024
