TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 54/Little Dry Wood Creek Bridges CLOSED for Rehab Project Week of May 13

Where: U.S. Route 54 over Little Dry Wood Creek west of Nevada

When: Beginning Week of Monday, May 13

Details: Project was originally scheduled to begin back in March 2024, but construction delays postponed the project

Traffic impacts:

  • Beginning the week of May 13, contractor crews will build temporary crossover lanes in the median, taking 3-4 weeks to complete
  • Once the crossover lanes are completed, contractor crews will CLOSE the westbound bridge and shift traffic head-to-head on the eastbound lanes until early August
  • When contractor completes work on westbound bridge, the eastbound bridge will CLOSE and traffic shifted head-to-head on the westbound lanes for duration of the project
  • Drivers should expect traffic delays
  • Watch for equipment and crews entering and exiting the work zone
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers should consider alternate routes during the project
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

  • Prime contractor – Capital Paving and Construction LLC, Columbia
  • Total project cost: $2.3 million
  • Contract completion date: November 1, 2024
