Temporary lane and ramp closures planned on I-44 in Phelps County near Rolla

Several overnight ramp closures planned May 7-13

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Contractors are planning to resurface several ramps along Interstate 44 in Phelps County as part of the larger project to resurface and reconstruct the lanes of I-44 from just west of Rolla to St. James. Ramps in both directions in the Rolla and Doolittle area will be closed beginning tomorrow night.

All work is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Below is the planned progression of work:

  • Tuesday, May 7 – both eastbound ramps at Sugar Tree Road (Exit 176).
  • Wednesday, May 8 – both eastbound ramps at the rest area.
  • Thursday, May 9 – both eastbound ramps at Doolittle (Exit 179).
  • Friday, May 10 – both eastbound ramps at Missouri Route 72 (Exit 184) and Route E (Exit 185).
  • Monday, May 13 – both westbound ramps at Missouri Route 72 (Exit 184) and Route E (Exit 185).

Additional ramp closures may occur west of Doolittle next week. The schedule of those closures is yet to be determined.

These dates may change, based on the weather forecast. Updated schedules will be provided through news releases and social media, as they are available. Motorists should be alert to project signing and changing conditions.
