MoDOT: U.S. Route 65 Widening Project In Ozark Focus of Public Meeting Tuesday, May 7

Christian County – Those interested in a project to widen Route 65 to six lanes, three lanes in each direction, in Ozark are invited to a public meeting to learn of upcoming traffic impacts and project information on Tuesday, May 7, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

This meeting is to inform the public of upcoming traffic impacts during construction and show an overview of the project when completed. The come-and-go style meeting will be held 4:30 – 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at OTC Richwood Valley Campus - Life Science Center Building Room LCS 224 (second floor), 3369 W. Jackson St. Nixa. No formal presentation is planned. Those who attend may come at any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn about the project and ask questions.

Those unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits, get project information and leave comments by visiting www.modot.org/southwest.

For those unable to access the online meeting, contact MoDOT’s Southwest District Office at 417.895.7600 and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.

The project will widen Route 65 by adding a lane in each direction in the median between Route CC/J and Missouri Route 14 and adding auxiliary lanes that connect the interchange ramps between Route 14 and Route F. Crews began bridge construction for the widening of the bridges over Finley Creek with no traffic impacts in November 2023.

Traffic impacts on Route 65:

  • Nighttime and weekend lane closings on Route 65 at times
  • Two lanes will remain open in each direction on Route 65 during daytime hours. Traffic congestion on Route 65 can be expected.
  • Route 65 traffic shifts to accommodate bridge work at Finley Creek

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between Christian County Routes CC/J and Christian County Route F in Ozark
    • Adding a lane in each direction in the median between Route CC/J and Route 14
    • Adding an auxiliary lane in each direction that connect the interchange ramps between Route 14 and Route F
  • Widen the north and southbound Route 65 bridges over Finley Creek south of Route 14

Contractor: Capital Paving & Construction LLC, Jefferson City

The estimated total project cost is $30.3 million.
