POSTPONED: Resurfacing project in Chariton, Carroll and Linn counties

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A resurfacing project originally scheduled to begin today, Monday, April 1, on Missouri Route 5 in Chariton County near Salisbury has been postponed to Monday, April 8, due to forecasted weather. This project also includes the resurfacing of Carroll County Route 41 near De Witt and Linn County Route 5 near Marceline. Capital Paving and Construction, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, expects to complete construction by May.

Beginning Monday, April 8, crews will narrow Chariton County Route 5 to one lane with flaggers directing motorists through the work zone. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.

Route 5 will be closed for two weeks under the BNSF Railroad bridge in Marceline (Linn County) and the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge west of Salisbury (Chariton County) for concrete repairs.

Updated project schedules, closure and detour information:

Chariton County Route 5:

  • April 8 – May 7.
  • CLOSED under the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge west of Salisbury – Wednesday, April 17 to Tuesday, April 30.
  • Traffic will be directed on Route 24, Route KK and Route WW around the closure.

Carroll County Route 41:

  • April 17 – May 3.

Linn County Route 5:

  • April 19 – May 27.
  • CLOSED under the BNSF Railroad bridge in Marceline – Wednesday, May 1 to Tuesday, May 14.
  • Traffic will be directed on U.S. Route 36, Missouri Route 129 and Route WW around the closure.
