JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The new Dry Fork Creek Bridge is complete, and Missouri Route 28 is now open. Originally scheduled to reopen in mid-April 2024, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) finished the bridge replacement project ahead of schedule, reopening the bridge to all traffic today, March 29, 2024.
Capital Paving & Construction, LLC closed Route 28 over Dry Fork Creek on Nov. 27, 2023, to replace the bridge. Built in 1929, the old bridge was in poor condition and did not meet current standards. The new bridge is wider and longer with an upgraded guardrail system.
On April 1, the contractor plans to close the Maries County Route C bridge over Peavine Creek for rehabilitation work. Built in 1965, the supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition, but the deck is in need of replacement. A signed detour will not be used, but signs will be located well ahead of the closure to alert motorists to use an alternate route. Work on this bridge is expected to be completed by June 1, 2024.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
