Airport Road Bridge in Jefferson City to close April 8

First of several bridge rehabilitations over U.S. Route 54

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Callaway County Route W (Airport Road) over U.S. Route 54 in Jefferson City will close for rehabilitation work in April. Construction crews anticipate restricting all access to the bridge for up to 60 days beginning the morning of April 8, 2024.

The work being done on this bridge, built in 1989, includes deck repairs, concrete overlay, application of protective coating, and new guardrail installation. All ramps will be open and a signed detour will direct motorists around the closure.

This project also includes rehabilitation work on the U.S. Route 63/Missouri Route 94 and Callaway County Route H (Business U.S. 54) bridges over U.S. Route 54. Neither of the U.S. Route 63/Route 94 bridges will be closed while the Airport Road Bridge is closed.

MoDOT contracted with Magruder Paving, LLC to complete this project and three others.

This is one of several projects aimed at enhancing safety, easing congestion, and prolonging the life expectancy of roads and bridges along the busy U.S. Route 54 corridor in Jefferson City. The contractors will coordinate work in order to minimize impacts to the traveling public. The most up-to-date traffic restrictions and information about each project can be found at www.modot.org/guide-us-route-54-improvement-projects-jefferson-city.
