ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use northbound I-55 in the city of St. Louis should be aware of two upcoming closures on the interstate next week – one overnight closure and one weekend closure.
The closures will allow crews to construct a place where traffic can cross to the northbound lanes between the River Des Peres and Koeln. This crossover work will allow crews to work on rehabilitating the southbound River Des Peres bridge.
Crews will close northbound I-55 at Carondelet/River City Boulevard (Exit 202A) Thursday, February 29, starting at 10 p.m. Traffic will turn right on River City Boulevard, follow it to Broadway and turn left on Broadway and follow it back to the interstate. Two northbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, March 1.
Crews will again close northbound I-55 at Carondelet/River City Boulevard (Exit 202A) Friday, March 1, starting at 9 p.m. for the weekend. Traffic will use the same detour route of River City Boulevard and Broadway to return to the interstate. In addition, crews will close one southbound lane (leaving only one lane open) Saturday, March 2 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. The two northbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, March 4. Drivers should be aware of a new traffic pattern on both northbound and southbound I-55 after the lanes reopen, as both lanes of traffic will move onto the northbound side of I-55 and back to the southbound side between River City Boulevard and Loughborough.
