Each year, FHWA recognizes and celebrates local government and tribal agencies who pioneer innovations that improve transportation performance. Rolette County Highway Department, ND: "Hydraulic Side Disc to Improve Safety" – a device that cuts and chops vegetation to more efficiently move gravel back onto roadways, saving time and money, as well as improving safety on gravel roads. Presenters: Leanna Emmer, Oscar Haas, and Mark Davis



Bedford, NH: “Vehicle Work Order System” – a digital tracking system utilizing Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) artificial intelligence (AI), resulting in better data management practices and an improved government vehicle work order system. Presenter: Brandon Boisvert

City of Arlington, TX: “Equitable Street Solutions for Pedestrians and Bicyclists” – a LiDAR-based system at intersections that improves safety for pedestrians and bicyclists, reduces traffic control delays, and improves the ability to identify potential crashes. Presenter: Chris Funches and Dr. Taylor Li.
