Traffic Alert: Bridge closure scheduled for U.S. Highway 50 in Knob Noster, Feb. 8 - June 2024

JOHNSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the U.S. Highway 50 westbound bridge over the railroad at Knob Noster for bridge rehabilitation. Work will begin Thursday, Feb. 8, at approximately 7 am, and last until June 30. All work is weather permitting.

The westbound bridge will be closed for the duration of the project. Westbound traffic will be shifted to the eastbound passing lane – resulting in eastbound and westbound traffic each having one lane over the eastbound railroad bridge. Additionally, North Vaughn Street will be closed at Hwy 50.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
