ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use southbound I-55 to get to Bates Street (exit 203) in the city of St. Louis should be aware that the ramp to Bates is closed for an indefinite period.
Michigan Avenue south of Fassen Street and the ramp is closed due to pavement collapse at the bottom of the ramp. Bates Street currently remains open.
MoDOT and its partners are currently evaluating the situation at the base of the ramp and will determine what actions need to be taken before the ramp can safely be reopened.
While Bates is closed, drivers can detour to Loughborough Ave (Exit 202C), turn left and follow Loughborough to S. Broadway, turn left and follow South Broadway back to Bates.
