JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Work is set to begin next week to bring multiple pedestrian facilities into compliance with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construction crews will make improvements to sidewalks, curb ramps, and pavement approaches in 10 cities across five counties, starting in California on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1,176,984.87 contract to S & A Equipment & Builders, LLC for this work, which is set to be completed by Nov. 1, 2024.
Improvements will be made to:
Boone County
- Missouri Route 124 in Hallsville, from the school entrance to Bertie Avenue.
- Route 124 in Hallsville, from Fairview Street to Route B.
- Route B in Hallsville, from Kathryn Durk Drive to Route 124.
- Route 124 in Harrisburg, from Wilhite Street to the church entrance.
- Route J in Harrisburg, from private drive to Midblock Crossing.
Cooper County
- Route B in Lone Elm, from the cemetery to the church entrance.
Howard County
- Missouri Route 3 in Armstrong, from 470 feet north of Seminary Street to Seminary Street.
- Route V in Armstrong, from 30 feet west of Evans Street to Evans Street.
- Missouri Route 129 in Roanoke, west of Route 3, in front of the cemetery. Missouri Route 5 in Fayette, from 190 feet west of Besgrove Street to Herndon Street.
Moniteau County
- Missouri Route 87 in California, from Business U.S. 50 to Parkway Drive.
- Route B in Tipton, from Tipton Correctional Center to Walnut Street.
- U.S. Route 50 in Tipton, from Park Avenue to Randolph Street.
Morgan County
- U.S. Route 50 in Syracuse, from Washington Street to Florida Road.
- Missouri Route 135 in Stover, from 1st Street to 3rd Street.
The construction crew will begin the ADA upgrades in California on Route 87. Once complete, they will move on to the next location in a yet-to-be-determined order. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
