Route D/Horse Creek Bridge CLOSED for Replacement in Dade County Beginning Week of Jan. 2

Dade County – The Dade County Route D bridge over Horse Creek northwest of Lockwood will be CLOSED for up to 120 days while contractor crews replace the bridge starting the week of January 2, 2024, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace the bridge with a new wider structure. The project also includes adding new barrier walls, guardrail, object markers and permanent striping.

Traffic Impacts:

  • All lanes of Route D CLOSED where crews are working
  • Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the bridge, but will not be able to drive through the work zone
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes to avoid work zone
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

This bridge was built in 1955 and carries approximately 370 vehicles per day.

This contract also includes replacing the Dade County Route K bridge over Jordan Creek west of Everton and rehabilitation of the Missouri Route 215 bridge over Stockton Lake north of Dadeville. Rehabilitation of the Route 215 bridge is currently underway.

  • Prime Contractor: Hartman & Company Inc., Springfield
  • Contract completion Date: August 1, 2024
  • Total project cost: $3.4 million
