MoDOT to close northbound/southbound Zumbehl Road over Interstate 70 overnight Monday, December 4

ST. CHARLES COUNTY – Drivers traveling on northbound and southbound Zumbehl Road over Interstate 70 should consider alternate routes overnight Monday, December 4. Crews will be closing both directions of Zumbehl from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. with intermittent short-term closure of the ramps from the interstate. This will allow the striping contractor adequate space to work safely and take advantage of warmer pavement temperatures earlier in the evening.

When the interchange reopens Tuesday morning, December 5, it will operate as a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI). All work is weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to drive slowly through the interchange as traffic movements will be changed, and to please be patient over the next few weeks as other drivers may be traveling through it and unfamiliar with the new traffic pattern.

Crews will continue to work on the interchange through the winter but will need to wait until spring to pave the final surface and complete final striping.

The Cave Springs and Zumbehl interchanges are being converted into Single Point Urban Interchanges (SPUI) for the I-70 Cave Springs to Fairgrounds Design-Build Project. As construction on this project progresses, both interchanges will remain open to drivers.

Other Single Point Urban Interchanges exist along the I-70 corridor, one at I-70 and Route 94/First Capitol Drive and I-70 and T.R. Hughes Boulevard.
