ST. JOSEPH – The Missouri Department of Transportation, working with Emery, Sapp & Sons, has completed a project that will give commercial vehicles access to more parking off Interstate 29. The new truck parking facility opened today, Wednesday, Nov. 22, and is located on southbound I-29 near Dearborn in Platte County.
The project began in March 2023 and converted the southbound rest area into a truck parking facility. The project added 14 truck parking spaces, allowing for a capacity of 37 total spaces. In addition, crews also installed new lighting and vault toilets at the location.
Crews are still working to finish another truck parking facility located near Lathrop on southbound I-35. This location is expected to reopen in December 2023.
