Ray County residents invited to review corridor safety study of BNSF's Marceline Subdivision

RAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a public meeting Tuesday, Dec. 5, to share information and receive feedback from residents as work progresses on MoDOT’s corridor safety study of BNSF’s Marceline Subdivision. The rail corridor carries freight trains and Amtrak’s Southwest Chief passenger train.

During the public meeting, MoDOT and the engineering consultant will share final recommendations identified during a recent safety evaluation of the freight and passenger rail corridor. MoDOT invites the public to share feedback and insights about the recommendations targeting potential safety improvements for both passenger vehicles and trains.

The public meeting is planned for the following time, date, and location:

  • 4 – 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Eagleton Senior Center, 1015 West Royal Street, Richmond, Missouri.

A short presentation will be held at 4 p.m. followed by an open house, where residents will be able to ask questions and provide additional information to MoDOT, Ray County officials and consultant staff.

MoDOT is conducting the safety study along the entire railroad corridor, from Kansas to Iowa, including Ray County. Feedback gathered during the meeting will give MoDOT and the county a blueprint for implementing improvements to enhance safety for travelers.
