MoDOT to hold public meeting for I-55 Design-Build Project on November 16

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an informational meeting on Thursday, November 16, to learn more about the I-55 Corridor Improvement Design-Build project.

The meeting will be held at Jefferson Memorial VFW, 900 VFW Dr., Festus, MO 63028 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. MoDOT engineers will share preliminary information about the goals, problems with the corridor and traffic, and allow the public to ask questions about the project.

The purpose of the project is to address traffic and safety concerns along the I-55 corridor and account for future development and growth patterns in the region. The improvement project will involve constructing an additional lane on I-55 northbound and southbound from Route Z to U.S. Route 67. MoDOT will also be replacing 14 bridges and rehabilitating 12 bridges. The project is scheduled to begin January/February 2024. Crews will start tree clearing for the project starting this winter.

The I-55 Corridor Improvements project is a $246 million dollar project.

Please note these are open house style meetings, and no formal presentations will be made. The public can attend the meetings anytime during the advertised hours. For those who are unable to attend a meeting in person, the information that will be presented and an online comment form will be available on November 16, 2023, until December 1, 2023.
