ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use northbound I-55 overnight through the city of St. Louis may want to consider alternate routes, or allow extra time, as crews will close a portion of the interstate overnight during the next two weeks.
Weather permitting, crews will close all lanes of northbound I-55 between River City Boulevard and Broadway to bring in concrete for new decks on several bridges along the corridor. Planned closures are:
- Friday, September 15, starting at 8 p.m., with northbound lanes reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, September 16.
- Monday, September 18, starting at 11 p.m., with northbound lanes reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 19.
- Friday, September 22, starting at 8 p.m., with northbound lanes reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, September 23.
There are no planned closures for southbound I-55.
Drivers can detour using River City Boulevard and Broadway, getting back on the interstate at 4500 Broadway. Larger trucks heading into the city may want to consider using I-255 in Illinois, I-44 or I-64 to get into the downtown area.
