JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation will host an open-house style informational meeting to discuss the rehabilitation of the Missouri Route 19 bridge over Frene Creek in Hermann. Motorists, local business owners, and area residents will have the opportunity to learn about the planned improvements and ask questions of the project team.
The public is invited to the meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Hermann City Hall, 1902 Jefferson Street. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and provide information. Exhibits will be available showing the work currently being planned and the proposed detour route during the closure of the bridge.
The bridge was built in 1930 with narrow lanes and is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The proposed plan to replace the bridge deck and girders – the superstructure – and upgrade pedestrians facilities will allow for a wider, smoother, safer traveling surface for motorists and pedestrians. These improvements are expected to be completed by Dec. 1, 2024, with an estimated cost of $1.2 million (subject to change).
