CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE U.S. Route 169 and 188th street in Smithville in phases starting on Sept. 7 until mid-November for roadway improvements. All work is weather permitting.
Phase One:
- Crews will close 188th St between Route HH Lane and N Main Street starting Thursday, Sept. 7 until mid- November.
Phase Two:
- Crews will close U.S. Route 169 at 188th Steet starting Tuesday, Sept. 26 until mid- November.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
