RESCHEDULED: Traffic shift planned for U.S. Route 50 over Moreau River in Jefferson City

Work zone change now set for Wednesday, Aug. 23

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Construction crews have rescheduled work zone changes on the westbound U.S. Route 50 bridge over the Moreau River in Jefferson City. The next phase of the bridge rehabilitation project will begin with a traffic shift on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Drivers can expect stopped traffic and delays.

In July, a bridge rehabilitation project led by West Plains Bridge & Grading, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, narrowed westbound U.S. Route 50 over the Moreau River to one lane with signs and message boards directing motorists through the work zone.

With the rehabilitation of the right-hand lane of the bridge complete, traffic will be shifted to allow crews to complete the rehabilitation of the left-hand lane. The traffic shift is now expected to take place Wednesday, Aug. 23. Beginning after the morning rush hour, crews will move the barricades and traffic may be stopped briefly. Motorists should expect delays.

This traffic pattern, with drivers using the single, right-hand lane, is expected to remain in place through the end of the project, which is anticipated to last through September 2023. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
