Work to begin on U.S. Route 24 Safety and Operational Improvement project, Sept. 2023

JACKSON COUNTY – Crews will begin work on U.S. Route 24 Safety and Operational Improvements from Sterling Ave. to Missouri Route 291 on approximately Sept. 5, 2023. This work may require various intermittent lane closures on eastbound and westbound U.S. 24 throughout the duration of construction. Construction on the project is expected to take place in three phases through June 2026. Complete closures are not expected but motorists are advised to plan ahead and be vigilant of work in the area. All work is weather permitting.

This is part of a larger project to make improvements to eastbound and westbound U.S. 24.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
