ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Route 136 in Phelps City and the bridge over the Missouri River to Brownville, Nebraska, are now open. Crews from Phillips Hardy, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, completed the work today, Aug. 14.
On Monday, July 24, the bridge was closed for a repair project after it was struck and damaged by an oversized load. Crews replaced a section of the bridge’s steel upper support structure.
During the same time, a segment of U.S. Route 136 from the bridge to Phelps City was closed for resurfacing as part of the ongoing flood remediation project (also contracted with Phillips Hardy, Inc.).
