St. Joseph, Mo. – The scheduled closure of the Cook Road Bridge over Interstate 29 in St. Joseph has been updated to include bridge deck repairs and reduced closure time. Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation now plan to complete concrete replacements on the bridges driving surface in addition to core drilling and materials testing, beginning Monday, Aug. 14 with all work now expected to be complete by Friday, Aug. 18.
Planned schedule:
- Aug. 14-15: The roadway will be closed to all traffic beginning Aug. 14, at 7 a.m. and remain closed overnight through Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 5 p.m.
- Aug. 16-18: The roadway will be closed to all traffic daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A project to replace the bridge’s deck is scheduled to go out for contractor bidding in February 2024 and could be awarded by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission at its March 2024 meeting.
Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during this time. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
