St. Joseph, Mo. – The bridge over Interstate 29 at Cook Road in St. Joseph will be closed next week for core drilling and materials testing ahead of a planned construction project. Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to close the bridge Monday, Aug. 14 at noon and it will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, Aug. 23.
A project to replace the bridge’s deck is scheduled to go out for contractor bidding in February 2024 and could be awarded by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission at its March 2024 meeting.
Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during this time. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
