MO 6 Bridge Over U.S. 24/61 Near Taylor Now Open

HANNIBAL – The Missouri Route 6 bridge over U.S. Route 24/61 is now open to one-lane traffic.  The bridge will remain reduced to a single lane of traffic with signals utilized for traffic control.  A width restriction of 14 feet will be in place until repairs are made.  All ramps at the interchange will remain open to traffic.

Missouri Route 6 will remain closed just east of the eastbound U.S. 24/61 off/on ramps. This will prohibit access to the outer road, east of the interchange, from MO 6.  Drivers desiring to access the outer road will do so from U.S. 24/61 approximately 1.3 miles north of the interchange.

The bridge was previously closed for a brief period for structural assessment after being hit last week, causing extensive damage to the exterior girders.  “A structural evaluation has been completed with repair options under review. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this process,” stated Area Engineer Emily Edgar.

Work with us in the work zone!  Please remember to obey all work zone signs and personnel.  With an increased number of highway work zones in Missouri, we urge all drivers to pay attention every second while driving, especially through a work zone.  Be informed of your route by checking the MoDOT Traveler Information Map before you leave to see if you will encounter any work zones or traffic impacts.
