Work to begin on MO-D and MO-23 in Johnson County, Aug. 1

JOHNSON COUNTY – Crews will begin work on the shoulder of the road on Route D and Route 23 beginning at 6 a.m. on Aug. 1. The work on Route 23 will take place at the main Spirit Gate of Whiteman Air Force Base. This work will not require a complete closure but motorists may experience delays in the area.

This work is part of a larger project to add lighting and signing at Route D and construct a northbound right turn lane at Spirit Blvd. at Whiteman Airforce Base. The project will be completed by approximately the end of Aug. 2023.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
