Route U reopened after completion of Petite Saline Creek bridge project

Crews finished work roughly one month earlier than projected

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Constructions crews have completed work on the bridge over Petite Saline Creek ahead of schedule, opening Cooper County Route U earlier than expected. As of Friday, July 21, travelers in both directions were able to use the rehabilitated bridge.

Crews from Widel, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), closed Route U over Petite Saline Creek on June 19 to replace expansion joints, make substructure repairs, and install a rock blanket. The contractor was allowed up to 80 calendar days to complete the work, but was able to reopen the roadway to all traffic on July 21.
