ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use Interstate 270 near I-44 in St. Louis County should be allow extra time or consider alternate routes to avoid ramp closures this weekend.
Weather permitting, crews will close the ramp from northbound I-270 to westbound I-44 at 7 p.m. Friday, July 21 (Exit 5B) for continuing bridge preventative maintenance. At the same time, they will close two right lanes on northbound I-270 approaching the ramp.
The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday, July 22. At that time, crews will close the ramp from southbound I-270 to eastbound I-44 (Exit 5A) and the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Route 366 (Watson Road) (Exit 277A) for additional preventative maintenance on two bridges. In addition, the two right lanes on southbound I-270 will be closed during this time.
The ramps and lanes will reopen on Sunday, July 23 by 5 a.m.
To detour around the northbound ramp closure, drivers can continue on northbound I-270 to Dougherty Ferry (Exit 8), cross the interstate and head southbound on I-270 to westbound I-44.
The detour for the ramp closure from southbound I-270 will be to continue south on I-270 and take the exit to Route 30 (Exit 3), cross over the interstate and head north on I-270 for eastbound I-44 (Exit 5A). The detour for the ramp closure from I-44 will be to continue east on I-44 and take the exit to Lindbergh (Exit 277B)
