ST. CHARLES COUNTY – Drivers traveling in both directions of Interstate 70 in St. Charles County should be aware of increased congestion as crews prepare to shift traffic as part of a bridge maintenance project. Crews will be working on eastbound and westbound Interstate 70 at Dardenne Creek. All work is weather permitting.

Starting at 9 p.m., Monday, July 24, crews will close the acceleration lane, the far-right lane and right shoulder of eastbound I-70 between Route 79 and Dardenne Creek. The remaining eastbound lanes will be shifted to the left. The northbound Route 79 on ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed during the duration of the bridge work.

On westbound I-70 between Dardenne Creek and Route 79, the Route 79 exit lane, the far- right lane and shoulder will be closed and remaining lanes shifted left.

As work progresses, eastbound and westbound lanes will be shifted in later stages. This bridge work and traffic shift is expected to remain in place until fall 2023.
