HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, as early as the week of July 19, contractor crews and the Missouri Department of Transportation will start work on stage 3 of the bridge replacement and interchange improvement project located at Interstate 70 and Missouri 19 at New Florence in Montgomery County. This will include the closure of the I-70 eastbound off-ramp to Missouri Route 19. Traffic will utilize the temporary eastbound off-ramp onto the new portion of Tree Farm Road to provide access to Missouri Route 19. Traffic on the new portion of Tree Farm Road will be one-way only ramp traffic at this time, as the south outer road, west of Missouri Route 19, will remain closed until later this fall. Traffic needing to access this route will need to detour to the Missouri Route 161 interchange at Danville.
In addition, the westbound on-ramp to I-70 will be closed with traffic being detoured north to the new Clark Drive and onto Booneslick Road, west to Danville, to access westbound Interstate 70 at the Missouri Route 161 interchange.
On August 6, at 7:00 a.m., Missouri Route 19 will close for a period of up to 7 days in order to complete the tie-in work at the south roundabout. The closure will be located just south of Tree Farm Road, extending south for 800 ft. This closure is necessary in order to safely complete work at this location due to steep slopes and the existing curve. During this time, traffic will be routed over a detour on Missouri Route 100 East to Missouri Route 47 or Missouri Route 94 West to U.S. Route 54. Message boards will be in place to alert motorists as changes occur.
Drivers will experience the following traffic impacts when traveling in this area:
- North Outer Road of I-70/Booneslick Road, west of MO 19 will remain closed from 19 to the FastLane entrance. Access to the FastLane entrance and west are open and accessible from the new Clark Drive.
- The Love’s Travel Stop auto entrance will be partially closed to reconstruct the entrance the week of July 10 and is expected to reopen in two weeks.
- The I-70 SOR, west of MO 19 is currently closed and will remain closed over the next several months until the south roundabout is complete.
