TRAFFIC ALERT: Lane Reductions, Delays on I-44/I-49 Bridge for Repair Work Beginning July 5

Where: I-44/I-49 bridge in Jasper County at Exit 18 in Fidelity

When: 7 p.m.-7 a.m., seven days a week, beginning July 5 through August 18

What: Contractor crews working to repair bridge struck by an oversized load on June 13

Traffic Impacts:

• I-44:
  • Eastbound traffic will remain reduced to one lane until repairs to bridge are completed
  • Westbound traffic will experience occasional lane closures during repairs
  • At least one lane OPEN at all times in each direction
  • These ramps at Exit 18 CLOSED:
    • Westbound I-44-to-southbound Missouri Route 59 off ramp
    • Northbound Missouri Route 59-to-westbound I-44 on ramp
    • Eastbound I-44-to-northbound I-49 off ramp
    • Southbound I-49-to-eastbound I-44 on ramp
• I-49/Missouri Route 59:
  • No traffic allowed under I-44 bridge when crews are working
  • Northbound Route 59 traffic diverted to eastbound I-44
  • Southbound I-49 traffic diverted to westbound I-44
• All north- and southbound lanes of Missouri Route 59/I-49 will be OPEN during daytime hours
• No signed detour
• Speed limits reduced through the work zones
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones
• Drivers should find alternate routes
• Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
