HANNIBAL – As early as July 5, weather permitting, a resurfacing project is set to begin on Missouri Route 156 from Missouri Route 149 in Macon County to Route 6 at Ewing in Lewis County. The total length of improvement is 52.5 miles and spans across Knox, Lewis and Macon counties. This project is anticipated to be completed by late fall.
The $6M contract, awarded earlier this year to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC of Jefferson City, Missouri.
“Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the day at the location where crews are actively working for the duration of the project," explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Christopher Peterson. “For the safety of the crews and the traveling public, we would like to remind drivers to be attentive in work zones and put down your cell phones to eliminate distractions,” he added.
Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. Workers will be present during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
