TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect Lane Reductions, Delays on Route 59 in McDonald Co. Beginning Week of June 26

Where: Missouri Route 59 in McDonald County between Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railroad crossing south to Missouri/Arkansas state line

When: 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday, beginning week of June 26

What: Contractor crews adding new pavement striping on Route 59 in McDonald County

Traffic Impacts:

  • Drivers may experience traffic delays as they approach train of slow-moving vehicles laying pavement striping on the highway
  • Drivers should maintain a safe distance behind striping vehicles to avoid tracking through freshly painted lines
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zones
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of a contract to resurface Route 59 in McDonald and Newton counties and Missouri Route 76 and Route F in McDonald County.

Project information:

  • Prime contractor: Blevins Asphalt Construction Co., Mt. Vernon
  • Total project cost: $5.7 million
  • Completion date: November 1, 2023
