TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect Lane Closures, Traffic Delays on Route 59 in McDonald Co. June 21-23

Where: Missouri Route 59 between Missouri Route 76 at the traffic signal at Business 71 in Anderson and the Route 59/I-49 interchange south of Goodman

When: 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, June 21-23

What: Contractor crews milling off the old asphalt and laying a new asphalt surface on Route 59

Traffic impacts:

  • Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt
  • Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars where crews are working. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
  • Work will be done during daytime hours; all lanes open to traffic at night
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers should find alternate routes
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Drivers are urged to use caution as they may experience a rough ride in areas until the resurfacing project is complete.

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of a contract to resurface Route 59 in McDonald and Newton counties and Missouri Route 76 and Route F in McDonald County.

Project information:

  • Prime contractor: Blevins Asphalt Construction Co., Mt. Vernon
  • Total project cost: $5.7 million
  • Completion date: November 1, 2023
